Hello virtual gardeners!

Love gardening but have no space? Love getting dirt under your nails and the smell of warm tomatoes ripening on the vine. Desperate to do some good gardening but a compost bin on your balcony will clash with the christmas tree?

Well it’s warming up in every way and for those with a green thumb or a desire to dig, there’s plans afoot for Coogee’s very own community garden. There’s lots of activities over summer to help prepare for the Dolphin St site, near the Scout Hall.

Sunday 12 December 9.30 am – 12.30

On the proposed site, Dolphin St near the Scout Hall, Coogee.

9.30 am Mulching madness, join Patricia in a mulching frenzy of the small  ‘pocket’ garden beside the Scout Hall.

10.30 am – 12.30 We’re holding a community get together for those interested in finding out more. Local gardening enthusiasts who have been part of the early group will give an update on progress. Followed by a design consultation  with sustainability guru Michael Mobbs. This is your chance to have input on the initial design for the site.

Saturday 18 December & Saturday 8 Jan

Coogee Bowling Club – meeting room

Building our community garden from the ground up

9.30 am – 12.30

This is where the fun begins! OK sitting around talking about a garden and how we want to run it, isn’t quite the same as shoveling manure.. However we need to look at how we will work together to establish the garden from the ground up. We will have 2 sessions with community facilitator Fiona Campbell on how to run the garden, our vision and the processes behind us becoming an group with clods! This is important stuff as we are all in this together and have to figure out our common objectives..
